All Through The Night
BARD Y BRENNIN
FIRST VERSE:
Sleep my child and peace attend thee, All through the night.
Guardian angels God will send thee, All through the night.
Soft the drowsy hours are creeping, Hill and vale in slumber sleeping,
I my loving vigil keeping, All through the night.
SECOND VERSE:
While the moon her watch is keeping, All through the night.
While the weary world is sleeping, All through the night.
O’er thy spirit gently stealing, Visions of delight revealing,
Breathes a pure and holy feeling, All through the night.
THIRD VERSE:
Love, to thee my thoughts are turning, All through the night.
All for thee my heart is yearning, All through the night.
Though sad fate our lives may sever, Parting will not last forever,
There’s a hope that leaves me never, All through the night.
An excerpt from Jory Sherman (A Winter of Crystal):
“At night the ice thickens, strengthens. Along the highways, the effect from the cars’ headlights is spectacular. Forests of crystal in the brief passing glow, disappear into the black like ghostly images in a darkened fun house.
“It is like someone with a flashlight taking you through a showroom full of chandeliers. The light brings the objects up in full relief and then they disappear. Another part of the room lights up again and then sinks into dark.
“A fence row is a shimmering blaze of fine clear magnified flame, pale as pearls, translucent against the black backdrop of night sky.
This is an incredible world. A winter of purest crystal. That is part of the history of the winter of ’78, too.
