May 6 Web Walk!

Wednesday Web [Art] Walk

Over the last six weeks, it became obvious that StateoftheOzarks would be unable to host First Friday Art Walk in April and May. In response, StateoftheOzarks Members Vashon and Ron Leach (VashRon) reached out to StateoftheOzarks administrative staff, asking, “What if we could do a virtual art walk?”

That idea quickly became Wednesday Web Walk. VashRon has partnered with StateoftheOzarks to coordinate and host an Ozarks-area virtual art walk with a planned first episode on May 6, 2020.

Here’s how it works…

The Wednesday Web Walk will be hosted using a well-known, conferencing application called Zoom. Up to 10 artists will register to be a part of the virtual art show. Each artist will have up to five minutes to talk about and display their work. Artists are also encouraged to promote their own web or social media sites during their time on the show. The number of artists and amount of time each has to speak is limited to keep the Web Walk to an hour long.

Artists that are interested in participating may register here: http://stateoftheozarks.net/showcase/members/web-walk-artist.

The Wednesday Web Walk is recorded in the afternoon and then published to the public at 6PM on May 6, 2020. The video of the show will be posted here, on this page at http://stateoftheozarks.net/showcase/web-walk/, on the StateOfTheOzarks Media YouTube Channel and on the Stateoftheozarks Spotlight Facebook Group. Artists and SOTO Members are encouraged to share the published recording to their own pages as well.

Artists who are interested in participating must meet these requirements:

  1. A computer, tablet device or smartphone with a Web cam and audio mic. (Most laptops, tablets and smartphones have a web cam and mic built in.)
  2. Internet access. The faster the internet speed the better, but a minimum of 5 mbps upload and 1 mbps download. Test your internet speed here: https://www.speedtest.net/
  3. Download the Zoom app (for devices) or Zoom software (for computer). This a FREE software and app. Download here: https://zoom.us/download
  4. Be available at Noon on Wednesday, May 6, 2020 for the recording. We recommend you log in to Zoom at least 15 minutes early to ensure all is working well. The official Zoom link and password will be provided to all registered artists shortly after registering.

There is also a unique opportunity for an artist to be the “Spotlight Artist.” This is an exclusive way for one artist on the show to go first and be given extra time to share more of their work. Artists may request to be the Spotlight Artist on the registration form. First come, first serve!

It is our intention to continue the Wednesday Web Walk throughout the year. We see this a great way to share the talented work of Ozark-area artists to a broad audience. As the show is Web-based, it is possible that our art can be seen and requested for purchase by art lovers all over the world!

Do you own a business or know someone who does? We are seeking a Wednesday Web Walk business sponsor, one for each show. This business could have a 30 sec. commercial spot, logo branding in the video, a link to their business and will be mentioned throughout the show. It’s a great way to support the local arts community and drive traffic to your business! If interested, send a private message to Vashon at https://www.facebook.com/vborich.

Below are some social media ads that we encourage you to copy and share. Be sure to include a link to this page http://stateoftheozarks.net/showcase/web-walk/ so friends and family know where to view the Wednesday Web Walk at 6PM on May 6, 2020.
