\n<\/i><\/b><\/i><\/b>\u201cAt night the ice thickens, strengthens. Along the highways, the effect from the cars\u2019 headlights is spectacular. Forests of crystal in the brief passing glow, disappear into the black like ghostly images in a darkened fun house.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is like someone with a flashlight taking you through a showroom full of chandeliers. The light brings the objects up in full relief and then they disappear. Another part of the room lights up again and then sinks into dark.<\/p>\n

\u201cA fence row is a shimmering blaze of fine clear magnified flame, pale as pearls, translucent against the black backdrop of night sky.<\/p>\n

This is an incredible world. A winter of purest crystal. That is part of the history of the winter of \u201978, too.<\/p>\n
