And before that? Ireland and Wales.<\/p>\n<p>Her cooking reflects our heritage: a combination of Upper South (lots of bacon, cornbread and bacon or side meat) and Old England (colcannon, spiced breads, puddings, jam cakes. And tea.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-8026 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/stateoftheozarks.net\/showcase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/gingerbread-knife-185x300.jpg\" alt=\"Gingerbread\" width=\"185\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateoftheozarks.net\/showcase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/gingerbread-knife-185x300.jpg 185w, https:\/\/stateoftheozarks.net\/showcase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/gingerbread-knife.jpg 266w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 185px) 100vw, 185px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Grandma Gwinn always drank tea.<\/p>\n<p>Did I mention she was beautiful?<\/p>\n<p>Her long hair and gray eyes even now denote a poise and inner strength that has since been lost.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"plate\">January 8, 2011<\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"recipe\">\n<h1>Ginger Bread<\/h1>\n<h2>from Grandma Gwinn<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>2 cups flour<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon baking powder<\/li>\n<li>1\/4 teaspoon salt<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon ginger<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup sugar<\/li>\n<li>1 egg<\/li>\n<li>1\/2 cup molasses<\/li>\n<li>1 cup sour cream<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon baking soda<\/li>\n<li>1 teaspoon vanilla<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Preheat oven to 325\u00b0F.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-8028 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/stateoftheozarks.net\/showcase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/gingerbread_overhead-185x300.jpg\" alt=\"Gingerbread\" width=\"185\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/stateoftheozarks.net\/showcase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/gingerbread_overhead-185x300.jpg 185w, https:\/\/stateoftheozarks.net\/showcase\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/06\/gingerbread_overhead.jpg 266w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 185px) 100vw, 185px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Sift flour with baking powder, salt, ginger and sugar. Add egg and molasses and vanilla, beating well after each.<\/p>\n<p>Stir baking soda into sour cream. Add sour cream mixture to flour mixture. Beat until smooth.
